The Pains Wessex MK8A Parachute Red Rocket is a SOLAS-compliant distress signal device, used to indicate emergency situations at sea by launching a red flare to 300 meters altitude. The flare is suspended by a parachute and burns for at least 40 seconds at 30,000 candelas.
Built with a plastic cylindrical body and an internal aluminum tube containing the pyrotechnic mixture and propulsion system, the MK8A is designed to remain functional even after water immersion. It features a pull-wire ignition for manual activation.
