The Wescom/Comet Red Handflare (Art. 9162800) is a short-range distress signal for day or night use, designed to pinpoint the position of a vessel or person. It features a telescopic handle with enhanced grip, compact for stowage, and is pull-wire ignited. The flare produces a red flame for 60 seconds at 15,000 candelas. Certified to SOLAS 74/88 (as amended), IMO MSC.81(70), MED 96/98/EC, and USCG Type Approval.

Fully extend the telescopic handle until it locks
Unscrew the red cap
Firmly pull the button to ignite
Hold with an outstretched arm and point downwind. The cap will eject after approximately 2 seconds
